Lean in to Your Weaknesses
Posted: July 6, 2026
We were recently shopping for a new leather sofa. The salesperson explained to me that the highest quality and most durable is “full grain.” You can see the hide’s inherent imperfections, but it is also the most durable. The other types of leather become less durable because they seek to remove natural imperfections. Then again, Dr. Todd Kashdan mentioned on my podcast our “weaknesses” and how to use them to our advantage. It occurred to me that we are tough, and rather than trying to remove our imperfections, we need to embrace our strengths. To do otherwise is to weaken ourselves.
