AI isn’t the next crisis; collapsing birthrates are.

Governments, media, and businesses are still behaving as if labor supply will always exceed demand, when in reality we’re heading toward a growing imbalance between seniors and children. In the near future, immigration, AI, and senior workers won’t be optional add‑ons for thriving organizations—they’ll be mandatory.

Rather than ignoring falling birthrates, we need to acknowledge the writing on the wall and deliberately leverage immigration, AI, and experienced seniors in the workforce. Costco, for example, has a long track record of thriving and is already doing this—paying a premium for senior employees in influential mentoring roles because of their immense experience and value.

If your strategy assumes an endless supply of cheap, young labor, your real risk isn’t AI—it’s arithmetic.
